Ufortunately, there hasn't been a word from Hallmark Channel on whether Home & Family will come back for a Sixth season.

Hallmark Channel

Home & Family is a two-hour morning series that presents useful tips and tricks for their home audience to enjoy. They provide a means to improve one’s life through the home, using American values as a backbone.

The creators of the show actually built a real functioning house on the lot at Universal Studios just to make this series even more realistic, allowing guests and hosts to demonstrate lawn and garden care, carpentry, and general maintenance in addition to the kitchen and house cleaning advice they offer.

Guests on the show are more like co-hosts for a day, sticking around the entire morning, allowing home audiences to get a clearer perception of the star’s true nature as well as their personal talents and interests off-screen.

What Makes This Morning Show Great
#HomeFamily has held high positions in daytime TVs ranks for four solid seasons, since its inception in 2012, as one of the most popular lifestyle shows for morning audiences.

The show is accompanied by an outstandingly organized site on Hallmark Channel’s homepage and a dedicated YouTube channel giving H&F viewers and fans access to the delicious recipes, gardening tips, carpentry, craft, and DIY projects as well as parenting and financial advice that are featured on the show.

Complete with compelling mini-segments featuring valuable and illuminating subjects like how to make your own alternative homemade natural antibacterial products, suggestions on getting good rest from an expert in the field of sleep research, how to take stunningly beautiful photographs of flowers, perfecting the kitchen art of creaming butter and sugar, and the numerous overall health and wellness benefits of a plant-only diet.

Changing of the Hosts
Viewers responded so positively to host Cristina Ferrare, believing her to be a true and honest friend who offers neighborly advice when homeowners need it most. For about three weeks mid-season in 2016, Cristina went missing from the show, causing fans to become concerned for her health and safety, with comments popping up on all the forums and blogs about the show.

The Hallmark Channel officially announced that Cristina was being replaced by Debbie Matenopoulos (former co-host on The View). Debbie had been the resident expert on lifestyle for #HomeFamily and was already familiar with the network and viewers.

Angry fans posted more than 2,500 comments immediately following the announcement, with most of them declaring they will never watch the show again and expressing their disappointment in the network’s choice to make Debbie the new host. Fans adored Cristina as if she was a part of their own family, so naturally, her sudden removal came as a shock and felt like a betrayal to them.

Michelle Vicary, Executive Vice President of Programming and Publicity for The Hallmark Channel responded about Cristina’s departure and Debbie’s entrance as the main host on #H&F, “[Cristina’s] natural flair and expertise, along with her warmth and grace, set a standard for all of us at #H&F, and we are forever indebted to her. Debbie has quickly become an audience favorite among our family of multi-talented lifestyle experts, and we look forward to her continued unique and exciting contributions going forward.”

Are Ratings Down Due to Debbie?
Not really… Two weeks into its fifth season, the show is at a 0.06 demo rating and 190,000 viewers watching, barely making it onto the Top 150 list. However, for comparison, these numbers are actually a little higher than where the show was in May 2016, before Cristina left, and only slightly lower than when the show was strongest in July 2015.

Despite so many people being vocal about boycotting the show because of the removal of their beloved Cristina, it’s possible that viewership has actually seen a slight increase overall. H&F blends two hours together so effortlessly that not many other daytime shows can offer fans a familiar home to tune-in to every morning. They may not like the fact that Cristina is gone, but they may not find anything better to watch instead.

Home & Family airs on the Hallmark Channel, weekdays at 10a/9c.

Are you outraged about Cristina being replaced by Debbie? Have you given Debbie a fair chance to prove herself as the new host? Is the content on Home & Family more important than who is hosting?

I gave Debbie a very good opportunity and I don’t like the way she hosts, her cooking and her mannerisms. Annoying! If Christina is not returning, you best find a better host.

VERY VERY disappointed that Cristina was replaced. I do like Deebie but also felt she was properly cast in the appropriate position. Cristina was the heart of the show. I actually stopped watching the show due to this. I have turned it on occasionally like at thanksgiving to see if they mention how thankful the show had been for having her as an amazing Co host but again disappointed. I loved the chemistry between her and Mark, as if they were family. I also DO NOT appreciate how Debbie just stepped into the spot without any mention of Cristina. You folks act like she never existed. I was truly excited to watch a show that displayed family values and an obvious love for the Lord . Then you let so many down by being sneaky, secretive and basically lying to us since the day Debbie slipped into the Co host slot. Shame on you!!!

I agree with you. Having her leave with no mention of it at all, that was not right! Christina has put her heart and soul into that show for a long time, even before it was on Hallmark.

Very disappointed in show without Christina. I don’t watch show everyday but enjoy it when I have a chance to watch. Especially love watching during the holiday season. I had noticed that she wasn’t on show but thought she was on vacation or medical leave. Just found out she’s no longer on show. The show isn’t the same…doesn’t have the same warmth. I will not watch again…complete waste of time.

I hope that this show is cancelled. It is ridiculous! You have two hosts that are full of themselves, a supposed “beauty expert” who is equally as self absorbed, and others who make this show a joke! The only ones worth watching are Ken (I can watch him on another network), Paige, and a couple others.
When they got rid of Cristina, they ruined the show and the family feeling. PLease let this catastrophe go and put something else there like the old Hallmark movies.

Have tried to watch a couple of times since Cristina, the show is silly now. Cristina made the show! Debbie is so struck on herself it is impossible to watch. What a mistake to fire the lovely Cristina!

i’m sure Debbie is a nice person, but I want Christina back. I still love the show, but rarely watch it. I was watching from the original inception of home and family in 1996. Christina has been there from the start, and she should still be there now. The show isn’t like it used to be without her.
